THIRD SEASON FOR HIGH STAKES POKER
GSN renews its option on cash game poker series
Poker fans who enjoyed the last season of the televised cash game
poker series "High Stakes Poker" can look forward to a third
season this week following the announcement by Game Show Network that
it intends to again take up its option for a further season.
"We were betting that 'High Stakes Poker' would be a success,
and we have won big," said Rich Cronin, GSN president and CEO.
"This show has proven to be a breakout hit with poker fans. We
couldn't be more pleased by the response that we have gotten from
viewers and television critics who have called 'High Stakes Poker'
a 'must-see' and the 'best poker show' on television."
The second season of the show, taped at the Palms Casino in Las Vegas,
is currently airing on GSN on Monday evenings. Several well-known
professional poker players have appeared in the first two seasons
of the show including Doyle Brunson, Daniel Negreanu, Barry Greenstein,
Jennifer Harman, Antonio Esfandiari, Mike Matusow, Phil Hellmuth,
Phil Laak and Johnny Chan. Amateur players such as the Los Angeles
Lakers owner Jerry Buss and Chicago restaurant owner Fred Chamanara
have also made appearances.
The show is the first true cash game of poker on TV and has a $100
000 minimum buy-in. Due to its popularity and the growing popularity
of poker in general, GSN also announced the network will be replaying
the first season of "High Stakes Poker" on Mondays starting
Sept. 18.
