New York man comes in second
in world poker tournament
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. -- Mark Newhouse of Chapel Hill,
N.C., beat more than 500 other competitors to win a World Poker Tour
event at the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa.
In competition that began last Friday and ended late
Tuesday, the 21-year-old Newhouse won $1.5 million, the richest purse
in the Borgata tournament's four-year history and the richest ever
offered in Atlantic City, according to Borgata spokeswoman Noel Stevenson.
Chris McCormack, 27, of Laurel Hollow, N.Y., finished
second and earned about $800,000.
The tournament is one of 19 events on the World Poker
Tour.
