TORONTO -- Three men, including one from London, were charged yesterday with shooting at police following a violent poker game robbery.

Two of the men were arrested in Toronto and the the third was picked up in London.

Police say three men stormed the Thornhill Social Club on Toronto's Finch Avenue West around 4 a.m. Wednesday and robbed 20 men playing poker.

Shots were fired into the ceiling and the card players were roughed up.

Police driving to the original call spotted a van leaving and pulled it over, but it then sped away onto Dufferin Street and then Highway 401.

As the officers gave chase, a passenger in the van leaned out and fired several shots.

Omar Jermaine Betty, 25, of Toronto, Ryan Shields, 26, of Toronto, and Ezra Lottery, 25, of London, have been charged with robbery, attempted murder, forcible confinement and discharging a firearm.

They're to appear in court in Toronto today.
