Online Poker: Doyles Room Engages
in Aggressive Advertising
Doyles Room Poker has begun advertising heavily on US
television recently with the legendary player himself, Doyle Brunson,
discussing how to play poker. The ads themselves direct viewers to
the free education version of the Doyles Room website - DoylesRoom.net.
That site does not permit betting.
After the President signed a bill into law this past
October that would curb some forms of internet gambling via credit
cards, a number of the industry's top online poker rooms including
PartyPoker and ParadisePoker.com, pulled out of the US market. Doyles
Room has vowed to continue taking on US poker players.
And while the Poker Players Alliance is working hard
to have online poker exempted from the new law, Doyles Room's software
provider, Tribeca, has announced it will no longer allow its licensees
to accept players from the United States. This has resulted in Doyles
Room's search for a new online poker network.
Doyles Room's newest ad campaign, which is seen in a
number of markets including New York City local television stations,
demonstrates Doyles commitment to the US market. The advertisement
stars former Brunson Doyle partner, Pamela Anderson. Doyles Room (see
website here) is endorsed by Gambling911.com.
....In other online gambling news, Gambling911.com sources
suggest that one major internet gambling company will be opening up
a bank on the island of Antigua. For many years, processing of credit
cards and electronic checks has presented a huge burden for online
gambling firms.
If true, this would mark the first time that an online
gambling company would set up its very own bank. In the past, the
founder of BetonSports.com, Gary Kaplan, had considered owning a banking
institution and at one time even attempted to purchase the dominant
third party money processor, Neteller.com.
Further details are not known at this time. Gambling911.com
will continue to monitor this situation as it develops.
